The Lensbury

Broom Rd, Teddington TW11 9NU, UK – 020 8614 6400

I've been a member here for a while now and the facilities are brilliant. The Boathouse is nice with a range of sailing dinghies available, though the wind on the river can be hard to read. The pool is good with nice changing rooms as well as a great gym upstairs. You can find Lensbury tennis courts on the grounds and across the road, but you may need to call and book a court if you are going at a busy time. There is a range of different court types from clay to grass. Overall, the Lensbury has great sporting facilities and I imagine I will be a member for a while to come.

Happened to stay here 4 the hottest week in the UK ever (I'm exaggerating a little) and my room and some of my co-workers rooms did not have air conditioning. I also somehow got a bug bite while sleeping. Has some cool recreational things to do like kayaking.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London Kingston Upon Thames

1 Skerne Rd, Kingston upon Thames KT2 5FJ, UK – 020 3096 0099

Nice new hotel, makes for a comfortable stay. A few mistakes made by the staff. They were very apologetic after it was pointed out, still didn't stop more mistakes from happening ! Hope the management work on that, as it doesn't hold up to the Hilton name. Apart from that it was a great stay. All being said, I would recommend staying here. Food and rooms are all up to standard. Location is great for Kingston town centre and local towns.

So far my favourite hotel in this area! Well kept, great hotel restaurant, and comfy beds. They also treat Hilton Honors members well. Free breakfast vouchers and high floor. Staff very friendly and helpful, offered travel advice and bought toothbrush kits up to the room.

Premier Inn London Kingston Upon Thames

Combined House, 15 Wheatfield Way, Kingston upon Thames KT1 2PD, UK – 0871 527 9586

If you have been to one of the more modern or recently refurbished Premier Inns you will know what to expect. Spacious air conditioned room, big comfortable bed. A good night's sleep followed by a good breakfast all at a reasonable price. Difficult to get to by car when I visited (August 2018) as the road to the car park was dug up and closed and they didn't warn us. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon but best to check.

Room nice but not let down in the restaurant. First night it took over an hour for our meals to arrive. My husband was happy with his steak but my haddock was disgusting. I don't think it had thawed out properly before being cooked. I did not have to pay for it. No argument. Was offered refund immediately. Staff were all very pleasant and friendly. We both found the bath a bit high and quite difficult to get into and out of when we showered.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Crown

174 Richmond Rd, Twickenham TW1 2NH, UK – 020 8892 5896

We stayed nearby and visited The Crown a couple of times - good food, good service, clearly a popular local venue. The indoor space is large and comfortable and the big garden is lovely! It was busy with cyclists and families and friends on the Sunday afternoon that we were there. We stopped by for a late pint and glass of wine later in the week and the garden was quieter. It was nice to sit out in the darkening evening and enjoy the atmosphere.

A huge bar with function rooms and a terrific garden. Very welcoming staff. Good selection of beers. Very good food. Highly recommended.

Lass O' Richmond Hill

8 Queen's Rd, Richmond TW10 6JJ, UK – 020 8940 1306

Been here a few times over the years. Today stopped for Sunday lunch. Pork medallions and roast beef etc. Very good food well cooked. And yes the pub has a car park at the back. Also outside tables so all in all another good place to eat.

Beautiful, clean, pet friendly, service with a smile, food is slightly more expensive than other places but worth it. Choice of drink is not super, except for the wine list. The place has been decorated with taste and family friendly. There is free parking at the back and a nice open space to chill out. Would strongly recommend to go for it!

The Railway

3 Victoria Rd, Teddington TW11 0BB, UK – 020 8943 0480

Lovely pub with great and friendly staff. Great food, I particularly like the Mediterranean veggie sharing board. Good selection of beers too 🍺. Cheers!

Staff are always really friendly, food is great (although a little on the high end price side but worth it) and a huge selection of drinks. Their gin & cocktail menus are really extensive for a relatively small pub. Gets very busy on evenings due to proximity to the station I think. Very glad this is our local! Plus they let dogs in the ground floor - bonus!

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Abigail's

7 Haggard Rd, Twickenham TW1 3AL, UK – 020 8892 6223

What a lovely house very welcoming and the owner is very friendly and accommodating. Great value for money especially considering the location. If you are looking for facilities a top hotel will offer then you are going to be disappointed. However if all you require is a clean house with comfortable beds for an amazing rate and a friendly no fuss landlady then this is the place for you. My partner and I spent 3 nights there culminating in the Rolling Stones gig at Twickenham, Abigails is literally 20mins walk from the Stadium so whether it's Rugby or Gigs this is the place to stay as far as convenience is concerned. So thank you again Kathy we will surely return.

Well decorated, spotlessly clean and warm with an owner who provides a caring welcome to guests, this guesthouse accommodation offers excellent value. There are numerous eating places in close proximity and Twickenham railway station is within easy walking distance. Highly recommended.

Juniper House

Juniper House, 8a Beauchamp Road, Molesey, East Molesey KT8 0PA, UK – 020 8941 7272

Fantastic B & B very clean and spacious rooms with free WIFI. Would highly recommend this place however not very cheap but you certainly get your moneys worth. Host was very nice and obliging with nothing a problem. Far superior to the standard hotels in the area for similar money.

We stayed at Juniper House B&B during the Hampton Court Flower show. What a fantastic place to stay! Comfy beds and pillows with a delicious breakfast, also spotlessly clean. The house is on a quiet street in a lovely area and the garden is beautiful. The hosts are very friendly, hospitable and clued up about the local area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we look forward to visiting again soon.

Brunswick Road Bed and Breakfast

2 Brunswick Rd, Kingston upon Thames KT2 6SA, UK – 020 8549 5966

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
